I am glad I did

I finished and passed my NICET Level I test just 3 hours ago---77 questions, 110 minutes, ALL were research questions from NFPA 72 2013.
I used Henry Nazar's book to practice for the test. I am glad I did. The research practice offered in his book was essential for the exam.
If I had not studied this book, I would not have passed. Be aware that the questions on the test were not the same questions in this book. But, learning how to find the answers in this book and practicing made all the difference.Thank you, Henry.

About the Author

Neil Z. Miller is a medical research journalist and Director of the Thinktwice Global Vaccine Institute. He has devoted the past 25 years to educating parents and health practitioners about vaccines, encouraging informed consent and non-mandatory laws. He is the author of several books on vaccines, including Miller's Review of Critical Vaccine Studies (2016), Vaccine Safety Manual for Concerned Families and Health Practitioners, Make an Informed Vaccine Decision for the Health of Your Child (with Dr. Mayer Eisenstein) and Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective? Past organizations that he has lectured for include the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, the International College of Integrative Medicine, Autism One, Maximized Living, and the Culture of Life Institute. Please read the book before condemning. The anti vaccine science is strong.

I actually read the book, which I think you will find far different than the naysayers who will attack Miller instead of the content. The content of this book is HIGHLY relevant, and highly valuable for anyone looking for the non-mainstream view and science surrounding vaccines. May I remind you of the fact that those of us opposing fluoride in our water 40 years ago were also referred to as "loons". Today, with the science of this municipal poisoning program coming forward, we have learned that fluoridation is not a wise idea. Even Israel has jumped off the fluoride bandwagon. Miller gives you an opportunity to decide, based on published research NOT OF HIS OWN, if you want to be part of the (forced) vaccine bandwagon for the next 40 years until we might have a paradigm shift here. Or, perhaps allowing you to see that you just might be playing Russian Roulette with your child with vaccines.

Read this book! It will open your eyes.

Wow! That was my initial response as I read the peer-reviewed studies in this book. It contains more than 400 scientific papers that are critical of vaccines. There is one study per page with bullet points that summarize the purpose of the study and its findings. (Some pages have two studies.) Each page also has a quote taken directly from the authors of the study. Many of the studies are published in highly respected medical journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the British Medical Journal, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, the American Journal of Epidemiology, Pediatrics, etc. 

My friends and relatives honestly thought there were no studies showing that vaccines could be harmful, but that’s not true. For example, in one study scientists analyzed the health records of 413,000 children and found that the MMR vaccine significantly increases the chance of a child needing emergency care. Several studies show that MMR increases the risk of seizures and other serious health conditions. Other studies show that vaccinated people can spread disease. Some vaccines have caused the disease to mutate into more virulent strains and the vaccine does not work against the new strains. (In the media, unvaccinated people are often blamed for the spread of disease but the studies tell a different story and herd immunity may not be possible.) Several studies show that thimerosal and aluminum, components used in many vaccines, can cause developmental delays, neurological problems and autoimmunity. (Many pregnant women and babies in the USA still receive flu vaccines with thimerosal, which has mercury. In Africa, several child vaccines still have mercury.) Some of the studies in this book show that many doctors and nurses do not immunize their own children with some vaccines and delay immunizations for other diseases. And several studies show that parents who do not immunize their children are highly educated when compared to parents who strictly follow the recommended immunization schedule.

Do not be fooled by staunch defenders of “immunization at any price.” This is the one vaccine book that they truly do not want you to read because when you read it your eyes and mind will be opened and you will realize in a profound way that you have not been told the whole truth about vaccines. Do not be fooled by those who call the author names, resort to ad hominem attacks, or say he has no credibility. They are trying very hard to stop you from reading this book. They know it will jar you awake. The author is a medical research journalist with 25 years of experience researching vaccines. Anyway, the book does not contain personal opinions. It is an objective summary of 400 peer-reviewed studies that were published in medical journals. Of course, the studies that the author includes in this book do not support vaccination, but he openly writes in the introduction that his goal was to gather important studies that are critical of vaccines, studies that describe “risks, detriments and tradeoffs” associated with vaccines, and he recommends that you supplement this book with information and studies provided by the CDC, the World Health Organization and the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture vaccines.

Seven medical doctors endorsed this book. You can read their comments in the opening pages.

The foreword to this book was written by Gary Goldman, PhD, an expert on the varicella-chickenpox vaccine. He worked for the CDC as an Epidemiology Analyst for eight years until the CDC tried to block him from publishing data that they wished to keep covered up. He resigned from his work with the CDC because he did not want to participate in research fraud. There was a legal battle and the data was eventually published. It is a fascinating story that provides insight into how important studies may be suppressed. 

If you are considering immunizations, you must read this book. If you are a doctor who supports compulsory immunizations, you should read this book. It may be the most important book that you will ever read. This book is a blessing for anyone seeking scientific evidence about vaccines.

Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies, a Valuable Resource

Vaccines are safe and effective, right?

Not according to the CDC’s own studies and not according to hundreds of other studies conducted around the world.

Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies summarizes the findings of 400 vaccine-related scientific papers. Considered one by one, the findings are disturbing. For example:

“Thimerosal-containing vaccines continue to be administered on a regular basis to potentially the most vulnerable populations: pregnant women and children (especially in developing countries). Given this, we believe it is high time to reassess the rationale for using thimerosal, a known immune and neurotoxic substance, in human vaccines.”

“The yearly U.S. mass influenza vaccination campaign has been ineffective in preventing influenza in vaccine recipients. In particular, they need to know of the possibility that repeated vaccinations may increase the risk of adverse effects.”

“Under universal varicella vaccination, there has been a vaccine-induced decline in exogenous boosting. We estimate universal varicella vaccination has the impact of an additional 14.6 million herpes-zoster cases among adults aged under 50 years during a 50-year time span at a substantial cost burden of 4.1 billion U.S. dollars or 80 million U.S. dollars annually.”

Most disturbing are the numerous studies cited in Miller’s book that expose the truth about pro-vaccine “science.” Following are a few examples:

“The CDC’s image as an independent watchdog over the public health has given it enormous prestige, and its recommendations are occasionally enforced by law. Despite the agency’s disclaimer, the CDC does receive millions of dollars in industry gifts and funding, both directly and indirectly, and several recent CDC actions and recommendations have raised questions about the science it cites, the clinical guidelines it promotes, and the money it is taking.”

About the Author
Frank R. Kardes is the Donald E. Weston Professor of Marketing at the College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award of the Society for Consumer Psychology, and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the Society for Consumer Psychology, the Society for Experimental Social Psychology, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. His research focuses on omission neglect, consumer judgment and inference processes, persuasion and advertising, and consumer and managerial decision making. He has published in many leading scientific journals and is frequently invited to present his research at leading universities throughout the world--including Wharton, Yale, Cornell, Chicago, Northwestern, Michigan, the Australian Graduate School of Management, the London Business School, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and INSEAD (France). Dr. Kardes was an Editor of the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Advances in Consumer Research, and the Handbook of Consumer Psychology, and was an Associate Editor of the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. He is currently Co-Editor of Marketing Letters.

Maria Cronley is a professor of marketing in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Dr. Cronley joined Miami 2002 and teaches classes in consumer behavior, developing consumer insights, and customer acquisition. She received a B.S. in business from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in marketing, with a secondary specialization in social psychology, from the University of Cincinnati. Her primary research interests center on consumer judgment and decision processes, with specific emphasis in the areas of inference and selective information processing, persuasion, and practices related to health services marketing. She sits on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Consumer Psychology, and has published numerous articles in scholarly journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Business Research, Advances in Consumer Research, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied, and the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. She has also won more than two dozen awards and grants for her scholarship and teaching, including the Endres Associate Fellows Award for research, the James Robeson Faculty Research Excellence Award, and the Outstanding Professor Award at Miami University.

Thomas W. Cline is Professor of Marketing in the Alex G. McKenna School at Saint Vincent College, where he teaches courses in consumer behavior, marketing research, advertising and promotion, strategic marketing, and statistical methods. He is a recipient of the International Teaching Excellence Award from the Association of College Business Schools and Programs. Dr. Cline has twenty years experience as a marketing research consultant, specializing in surveys, experimental designs, and focus groups. He earned a Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from the University of Virginia. Dr. Cline has published numerous articles in academic journals, including the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of Economic Psychology, Psychology and Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Communications. Dr. Cline is widely cited in the popular press, including USA Today, Psychology Today, CBS News, The LA Times, MSNBC, and The Washington Times. Dr. Cline also serves as head coach for the men's and women's golf teams for Saint Vincent College, hosted at Arnold Palmer's Latrobe Country Club in Latrobe, PA

Out of Date

This book was an award winner when it was first published in 1992 but since then neuroscience and psychology have advanced so far that this book is antiquated and irrelevant. It's annoying how the author keeps on talking about the biochemistry profession, and asks interesting questions but doesn't really answer them. For anyone interested in neuroscience check out "The Accidental Mind" or "The Female Brain" or "The Brain that Changes Itself".

Are human memories stored in nucleic acids?

We were taught in basic biochemistry that this question was answered in 1965 with a resounding, table pounding "No." Case closed. But on reflection, and at this remove in time, it is clear that the (rather appealing, really) possibility that nucleic acids constitute a long term memory storage medium was neither tested nor refuted 35 years ago. No one knew how. No one would know how today.
The author, who became deeply skeptical of the original 1960s research that launched the idea of nucleic acid memory -- tells the story of this forgotten controversy from a personal point of view, and this is the most interesting part of the book.
The fact is, biological information is very typically stored as sequences and shapes, and there is no reason to imagine the human memory is stored in some entirely different way. Probably the notion of nucleic acid memory will get a second hearing someday when we have the technology to actually test it, and some sort of a hunch or clue about how such a thing might work in the brain.
A fun book on the subject is the science fiction classic, "Hauser's Memory," and it is probably the only other book on nucleic acid memory that is still available.
For a quick, seamless review of the currently accepted view of human memory, which is grounded on the assumption that memory is stored as synaptic changes, see Kandel & Squire's book, "Memory. From Mind to Molecules."

More math please!

This really is an excellent introduction to microeconomics, but its weakness is that it tries to be all things to all people. The author appears to be trying very hard not to scare away potential readers who might be intimidated by calculus. This is a shame, since the level required is not very difficult. All that is really needed is a quick review of the derivitative, and the chain rule in particular. Calculus is essential for any further study of economics, so relegating it to the back of chapters does not do students any service. Having said all that, the concepts are very clearly and thoroughly expained. I just wish the math were more 'up front.'

a great introduction into microeconomics

Varian has done a great job. He got the balance between the math necessary for serious microeconomics, and the examples and jokes necessary to keep the students reading. Using the dual approach (household and producer behaviour), he introduces the reader into microeconomics at a level which makes it possible to move on to more esoteric books like his own 'Microeconomic Analysis', or 'Microeconomic Theory' by Mas-Colell, Whinston, Green. He manages to cover much more than Mankiw can, which is good and necessary to build a solid basis. Yet the book is accessible to anyone familiar with high school math (differentiation and optimization), and requires no economic prerequisites. He also covers several more advanced topics on a stand-alone basis (like economics of information, or game theory) which on the one hand is very useful, as it gives the reader an idea as to where one can head to, but on the other hand is not satisfying as these chapters are necessarily rather superficial. Apart from that, the book is great to built a rigorous basis for household and producer behaviour, and makes it rather easy to go on to much more advanced literature. The math is hidden in the appendices, so it is necessary for a serious understanding to cover these as well, but I don't see any problem with that. This book is as excellent as an introductory micro book can ever be.

It is.....Ok

I took an intermediate microeconomics class with this book. Unfortunetly the author Varian wanted to make some extra money on the side so the book has only a few problems and examples. Why?
Because there is an "accompaniment" workbook. Another $50, but if u really just want some practice, you can find an older version online posted for free, google it people. (The practice workbook has ~800 questions over the ~30 chapters in the book, and is pretty useful actually)

It is a fun read, really it is. It has some great examples in this and is well divided into roughly 30 chapters. Whatever course your taking, this book is too long for 1 semester so you'll probably skip the later chapters that have more to do with game theory and such.

The case studies are good, and the book does a good job explaining utility, CS, PS, allocative efficiency vs. cost effective efficiency, and finally a very good job (covered in 4 chapters) the role and types of monopolists.

If your teacher assigns this textbook, its not the end of the world. Im not sure I would pick it up if it wasnt assigned though, its not that level of good.

Great beginning, I hope the series won't disappoint

A Little Thing Called Love is a prequel novella that sets up the story for The Match of the Century, the first book in the Marrying the Duke series. In The match of the century we see Elin's story, who is the daughter of Jennifer and Fyclan.

The story was short but it wasn't lacking. I was sold on Jennifer and Fyclan's story, despite the instant connection they had which sometimes is an off for me. Maybe the prediction was a factor that helped me with that. I want to see how the story in The Match of the Century will go. The blurb kind of contradicts what Fyclan's grandma said and I want to see how that will work out. The good thing is that the book will be released in November which is close enough for me.

Jennifer is my kind my gal. She is a reader and when she meets her husband, Fyclan, while she is trying to borrow a book (I wish something like that happened to me *sigh*). I liked how Fyclan wasn't a scoundrel, but still maintained an alpha personality. I despised Jennifer's father and I can't say that I liked her sisters. I am looking forward to seeing the characters from this story again in the first book of the series.

The ending of this story was quite satisfying and it was a good way to introduce the series to the readers. The epilogue was perfect for me and it sets everything up for The Match of the Century.

I knew I had to read it.

When I was younger Cathy Maxwell was one of the authors I could never get enough of. My bookshelves were full of her books and I never got tired of reading them. As I got older and life became more fast pace and complicated I lost track of many authors that I followed including Cathy Maxwell. I could not believe it when I stumbled across A Little Thing Called Love on Edelweiss. I knew I had to read it. The enchanting characters, the beautifully written words and the feeling of being transported back in time proved euphoric. Jennifer was a dreamer that longed to be loved and instead endured many heartbreaking setbacks. Flycan has sought acceptance and love he wants to believe in the fantasy of happily ever after and a better life. Armed with his grandmother's prophetic words he sets out. This story is for the true romantics and dreamers in all of us. It was great to rediscover why I enjoy reading this author.

This prequel is deceiving, and gave me expectations for the series, that were crushed in the 1st book of the series. I am not sure why an author would do this, write a meaningless prequel, why? To smoke screen the readers? The story itself was sweet, but nothing special. It would had been better to let it stand alone about someone else and not to raise expectations. Not sure but it has sort of stay away from the series at the very least. My advice is that the readers skip this overpriced novella, save your $, whose contents mean nothing as far as the series are concerned. If you must check from your local library.
